During the Spike Video Game Awards 2009, an exclusive look on Halo: Reach and Prince of Persia: Forgotten Sands shown. Along with the exclusive looks, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II, a sequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum and Green Day: Rock Band was announced during the event.

Microsoft and Sony both held conferences at the Consumer Electronic Show (CES). Microsoft confirmed that Project Natal will come out on the holiday season of this year and the Game Room, a new arcade experience this spring for the Xbox 360 and PC. Sony explained more on the use of 3-D technology for the PlayStation 3 (PS3). The PS3 will be able to play games and movies through the use of a software update.

While not officially announced, game designers Shigeru Miyamoto and Eiji Aonuma both confirmed that there will be a new Legend of Zelda game for the Wii. The game has been confirmed to feature the Wii MotionPlus and is to be released before the end of 2010. President of Nintendo Satoru Iwata confirmed that a successor console to the DS will feature motion control technology and highly-detailed graphics.
