Platinum Play, Musical, and Projects should astound

Preview

The Platinum Team musical, and “Beowulf”, will go up on Wednesday, June the 16th in the Day Auditorium. Optional art projects will be displayed beginning that same week.

While others in this school are taking finals, the Platinum Team is having an end-of-the-year festival, with students choosing between the Platinum Team Musical, a production of "Beowulf", or various art projects.

"I think it’s a fun show...it’s a group show... so you get to work with

your friends a lot,” says a Platinum Teamer and cast member of "Joe Magarac : Big Steel Man". The musical tell the American tall tale about a steel worker in Pittsburgh who does nothing but eat and work. Joe Magarac himself will be portrayed by another Platinum Teamer.

Two Platinum teamers are currently adapting “Beowulf", an old English myth, into a play. Using the Seamus Heaney translation as a base, this daunting task is nearing completion.

Art projects are also underway. This offstage option gives students a list of possibilities for alternative, non-performing art. Some projects in the past have included a replica of a Greek temple, and many paintings which

still adorn Platinum language arts teacher Jamie Demarest's class

room.
